The UK International Emergency Trauma Database There is a long tradition of volunteers from the UK responding to emergencies overseas. The purpose of the UK International Emergency Trauma Register is to bring together surgeons, anaesthetists, emergency physicians/nurses and other supporting medical, nursing and paramedical personnel who are interested in responding to large scale emergencies overseas. We at the register will help direct members towards appropriate training and will keep you updated of developments in the field. There will be an annual general meeting which members are encouraged to attend and an annual training course available to all members. The principle of the register is that it is inclusive and all those who have appropriate skills arewelcome. As members gain in experience they will become more eligible for emergency deployment. When fully trained and experienced, members will be available at 24-48 hours notice to be deployed overseas for 2-3 weeks in response to a major international catastrophe. We anticipate that we will have a rolling rota of first on call members and that this period of first on call will be for a period of about 12 months. Members can of course be on call for longer and rotate their first on call status as they wish. Click here to browse some of the current members.
