UK-Med offers its Essential Response Training (ERT) course to prepare UK-Med Register members to work as part of a UK Emergency Medical Team (UK EMT) response.
The course is tailored for members with previous humanitarian experience and so it is also useful refresher for working within a humanitarian setting.
Upcoming dates
The following course dates have been confirmed:
When embarking on a UK EMT emergency response you will be a part of a diverse team of highly skilled clinicians and humanitarian professionals from the UK and across the globe. You will come together and work on a shared goal of providing healthcare solutions to high standards.
Humanitarian crises can vary vastly in their nature and context and this Essential Response Training (ERT) has been designed to provide an overview of what you can expect on a UK EMT response in general terms.
Please see the infographic below:
The Essential Response Training (ERT) will equip you with the necessary skills, knowledge and information required to feel prepared, and to be able to function as a part of the team on a UK EMT response.
You will also gain an insight into what the deployment process entails and how we prepare our members for a UK EMT response.
The course begins with self-directed e-learning modules, which will take four hours to complete.
These modules will need to be completed before an online Zoom virtual classroom, which is facilitated by our experienced trainers and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). The virtual classroom will last one day (09:15 – 16:00)
Course schedule and access details will be sent to you in advance of the session.
The Deployment Course is designed for UK-Med Register members who have little or no previous experience of working in a humanitarian setting, and so it is a more comprehensive and longer course than the ERT.
We will be running more Deployment Courses in 2022, so please keep an eye out on the Bulletin if you need to attend this training.
