Specialist training opportunity: HEAT course dates August and September 2021

UK-Med will be running two Hazardous Environment Awareness Training (HEAT) courses in August and September. This training is open to members who have completed the Deployment course.

This training consists of 15 online modules, three live zoom sessions and a 1-day immersive simulation. Whilst it is not currently possible to run the simulation, due to COVID-19 restrictions, we are moving ahead with delivering the online learning.

Because the self-directed learning goes hand in hand with live-calls we are limiting access to the online modules to be by invitation only. For this course participants will have access to the 15 online modules a week before the training commences.

Modules 1 to 5 would need to be completed in time for the first zoom session, modules 6 to 10 would need to be completed in time for the second zoom session and modules 11 to 15 would need to be completed in time for the third Zoom session.

Each Zoom session is led by a safety/security expert from our HEAT training provider Safer Edge, and it is an opportunity for you to go through the modules you have completed with the rest of the team.

To take part in this training, participants would need to commit to attending the three 1-hour live talks with the HEAT trainer. The dates are as follows:

  • Option 1 (August) – Thursday 19th August, 26th August and 2nd September 2021, from  8:30 am – 9:30 am OR
  • Option 2 (September) - Thursday 9th September, 16th September & 23rd September 2021, from  8:30 am – 9:30 am

In addition, participants would need to commit to completing 5-7 hours of self-directed online study to complete all the modules in time for each of the live 1-hour session with the trainer. Please note that whilst it is worth considering taking study leave, due to the time commitment required to complete this training, UK-Med is not able to cover any associated costs.

Please note that the number of places available on this training is limited and prioritisation will be given to those who are on-call in 2021.
