UK-Med is exploring options for members to deploy both within and outside of the UK EMT and we are currently in discussion with other NGOs to explore opportunities to deploy into their humanitarian operations.
Are you ready to respond?
There are a few key actions members need to complete in order to be ready to quickly join a humanitarian response. All members should be maintaining an up to date CV on the UK-Med Community of Practice. This will allow us to match UK-Med members to potential deployment opportunities, and to offer you opportunities that fit with your skills and experience. If you have not updated your CV in the last three months, please check and upload a new version if necessary. You can log in to the Community of Practice at https://community.uk-med.org/
Many countries require passports to be in date for at least 6 months after the end of a planned trip. To make sure you can get entry visas for any deployment, you must renew your passport in plenty of time particularly if you are on-call soon. Information on how to renew a UK Passport can be found at https://www.gov.uk/renew-adult-passport
Finally, please make sure that you respond to any request for information promptly. Whether you receive the request from the UK-Med Office or from one of our suppliers (e.g. the Well Travelled Clinic who manage our health checking or Manchester City Council who run DBS checks on our behalf), we only ask for information that is essential for getting you ready to deploy.
We will keep you up to date with opportunities to deploy via our website.
