Our Essential Burn Care Course is run by Interburns, a worldwide network of burn care practitioners who have been improving standards of care for burn patients since 2006. As a practitioner deployed with UK-Med, you’re likely to encounter patients with a range of burn injuries. Prompt action is vital to deal with the potentially life-changing effects of such injuries, and in this course you’ll learn the necessary skills to act quickly and effectively.
By undertaking this course:
This course takes place live and online over one day, in a group of up to twenty participants. Instruction is provided by burn experts from around the world.
The course itself is very practical. By role-playing examples of real scenarios that you may experience in the field, you’ll learn the skills you’ll need when you’re deployed to a humanitarian situation which could be a sudden onset disaster, conflict or other emergency where burn care is needed.
You’ll learn in a variety of ways, with a particular emphasis on peer-based learning and group learning activities.
You’ll already be an experienced clinician (nurse, paramedic, physiotherapist or doctor) in your day-to-day role but will be new to working with patients with either basic or moderate burns. You’ll already have been accepted onto UK-Med’s Register and will have completed the Core Training Pathway. You’ll be interested in deploying with UK-Med to a humanitarian emergency.
