In a UK-Med response, there are generally two leadership positions. These are Team Leader, and Medical Coordinator (MedCo). In some situations, these roles may be combined. Our Medical Coordinator Course focuses on the management of the clinical aspect of an Emergency Medical Team response.
By undertaking this training, you’ll be able to lead the technical side of a response. Emergency responses involve multi-disciplinary teams and the situations are often complex. As MedCo, you’ll need to adapt to changing environments while remaining committed to the mission objectives. A further key aspect of this role is the management of relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
The broad themes of the course cover the activation and mobilisation of a response, issues around clinical governance and the structure of responses, how and what to report, and maintaining good team welfare and conduct.
