We are happy to announce that UK-Med and Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce (GMCC) have joined together in a strategic partnership to address critical health crises in countries affected by crisis, disaster, and conflict.
Following UK-Med moving into in the Chamber offices, GMCC’s Strategic Partnership Membership plan forms part of the values-based collaborative mission that the Chamber has to support people and businesses ‘giving back’.
About the GMCC
The Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce is the largest Chamber of Commerce in the UK. It uses its influence with local and central government to lobby on behalf of its more than 4,000 members as the voice of the Greater Manchester business community.
Based in the heart of Manchester City Centre on Deansgate, where UK-med has recently moved, the Chamber has a strong presence in Greater Manchester’s ten local authority areas.
Why This Matters
Together, we’ll address critical health crises worldwide, starting with the ongoing emergency in Ukraine. With support from the GMCC, we’ve relaunched our Ukraine Emergency Appeal to support our medical work during this devastating conflict. Nearly half a million people have fled, facing freezing temperatures and dire conditions.
Strengthening our Manchester Roots
Our history is proudly rooted in the Northwest, having been founded more than 30 years ago by a group of Manchester-based doctors. It is therefore a momentous opportunity to strengthen our links with the Northwest through this new strategic partnership with the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, and one for which we thank GMCC.
While the formal partnership with GMCC is new, UK-Med’s connection to GMCC reaches back to 2022, when the Chamber helped to launch UK-Med’s Ukraine Emergency Appeal together with Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester, and the Ukrainian Association of Great Britain. The new and exciting partnership is the next step in what will surely be an enduring relationship between GMCC and UK-Med.
