Emad Masoud, 44, underwent 42 surgical procedures during a five-month stay at the UK-Med hospital after sustaining severe injuries when a neighbouring building collapsed on him in Khan Younis.
In late July 2025, Emad was standing outside his home when a neighbouring house was struck. The building collapsed, and its roof fell on him, leaving him unconscious. When he regained consciousness, he found himself at Nasser Hospital, where he was among a large number of injured patients. He was later transferred to the Jordanian Hospital, where he remained for 40 days.
A month later, Emad was referred to UK-Med for further treatment. He arrived at the emergency department uncertain about the hospital, having never received care there before. He was informed that the treatment and surgery he required were available at UK-Med.
Following a full assessment and medical investigations, Emad was admitted for surgery. His treatment became a long and complex journey. Over the following five months, he underwent 42 procedures, including amputation, surgery and repeated wound-cleaning procedures.
Throughout his stay, the UK-Med team continued to provide treatment and monitor his condition. Although Emad ultimately lost one leg, the medical team was able to save his other leg.
Emad was discharged on 22 December 2025 after five months of treatment. He describes a significant improvement in his health and says that the UK-Med hospital became his “second home” during his recovery.
He now looks back on his treatment with gratitude and thanks the entire UK-Med hospital team for the care and support he received throughout his journey.
“I was afraid to come to UK-Med because I did not know it before, but it turned out to be excellent. It became my second home.”
42 operations. Five months of care. A recovery shaped by the dedication of the teams who cared for him.
