About this course

Having access to safe and clean Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) facilities is crucial to the effectiveness of an emergency response. This is even more true in a health response. This course is designed to build a small group of strong WASH leads who can train other UK-Med WASH advisors.

What you will learn

The overall aim of this course is to ensure you’re familiar with WASH technical kit and the processes of installation, usage and maintenance of the kit.

By undertaking this course:

  • You’ll understand the relevant aspects of the World Health Organisation’s technical standards for WASH
  • You’ll gain a good overview of UK-Med’s WASH infrastructure and how we deliver WASH.

The key topics and themes you’ll cover on this course are:

  • How to manage WASH on a deployment
  • Locating and using relevant WASH resources
  • Implementing UK-Med’s approach to WASH on deployment
  • Building, using and maintaining equipment
  • Training others on UK-Med’s approach, standard operating procedures and equipment.
