Large gifts and philanthropy

Our life-saving work is only possible with the backing of our donors and supporters. Thank you for believing everyone should get the healthcare they need when disasters hit. Together, we’re building a world where that’s a reality.

When disasters hit, it’s local healthcare staff who can respond most quickly to save lives and will be the ones providing the long-term care which allows people to rebuild their lives. But years of instability and conflict can leave healthcare systems fragile, with significant training and investment gaps. This is where UK-Med responds- we help healthcare staff and organisations to be better prepared for emergencies through training and capacity building; helping to rebuild local healthcare systems and empower staff to respond against outbreaks or disasters.

Your support enables us to respond quickly and independently, no matter where disaster hits. 96p in every pound donated goes directly to responding to emergencies around the world, preparing communities for future crises and working with academic partners to promote evidence-based practice that improves patient care and the humanitarian sector. Our Fundraising Promise ensures that your donation has the greatest impact around the world.

If you’re interested in making a large gift, please contact Jackie at jackie.snell@uk-med.org to discuss how you can support our work and where your donation will be making a difference.

Trusts and Foundations

Donations from Trusts and Foundations enable UK-Med to buy life-saving kit, deliver high quality training and get healthcare workers where they’re needed to save lives.

We welcome unrestricted funding but we also need support on our specific projects, such as:

UK-Med’s Emergency Response Fund

  • We don’t know when or where the next disaster will hit. Our Emergency Response Fund gives us the ability to send expert health staff wherever they’re needed, fast.

Saving lives in Yemen

  • In Yemen, 21 million people are in need of humanitarian assistance. So far, we have trained 100 healthcare professionals in Yemen to support the country’s struggling healthcare system, burdened by conflict, COVID-19, and limited resources.

Building our Type 1 Field Hospital

  • From late 2021, our Field Hospital will be ready to deploy whenever disaster hits. This is a project which requires regular funding to replenish and update kit after each response – as well as transport kit and health staff to a disaster zone where they can save lives

Providing virtual training to low- and middle-income countries

  • Like many organisations, we have dramatically increased our use of digital platforms since the pandemic. We saw an opportunity in this to deliver training session remotely to low- and middle-income countries with healthcare systems in need of support. This enables us to offer the skills and expertise of our expert health staff at a fraction of the cost of an in-person response.

If you’re interested in any of these projects or any other potential areas of our work, please contact Ellie at ellie.kinney@uk-med.org to find out more.

Corporate partnerships

Does your business believe in equal access to healthcare? Then we want to work with you!

Partnership is at the heart of UK-Med’s work and we are always open to new partners to maximize the impact our work has. Here’s some of the ways your company can get involved:

  • Events

Take your team to one of our events – you can see our latest ones here. Get out of the office (or home office) and take on a physical challenge that’s sure to bring your team together.

Offering matched giving (matching whatever your employees raise) is a great way to motivate your team to raise as much as they can, with double the impact! We offer discounts for large group bookings so please get in touch if this is something you’re interested in.

  • Workplace fundraising

Office life looks very different now but a fundraiser in your workplace could be just the trick to reconnect with your team. Whilst many home workers embraced ‘wear your pyjamas to work’ throughout lockdown, there’s still plenty of workplace fundraising ideas to try! Consider an office sweepstake beyond just football- how about Strictly, Eurovision or Drag Race too? Or maybe a take on a virtual challenge to unite employees across locations?

  • Payroll Giving

Payroll Giving is a smart way to make your donation go further, through paying directly through your wage. Check in with your HR department to see if they offer Payroll Giving. If they do, they’ll be able to arrange a regular gift for you. If they don’t, get in touch with fundraising@uk-med.org to find out more.
