Fantastic Fundraisers

On this year’s international day of charity we wanted to showcase some of our fantastic fundraisers who have raised vital funds for UK-Med this year. From running and cycling to baking and art this year we have been lucky enough to have dedicated supporters willing to go that extra mile to raise awareness as well as donations for UK-Med’s work.

Thanks to our fundraisers taking on brave challenges and hosting brilliant community events we are able to be there for those that are in desperate in need of life-saving health care. Read more below about some of the incredible people who have helped UK-Med ensure we can continue to save lives in emergencies.

Cycling Dentist Extraordinaire

In March NHS dentist, Hayder Ameer, took on the London-Essex 100mile cycle challenge in aid of UK-Med’s Gaza Health Crisis Appeal, raising an amazing £5,390!

Hayder had to increase his target twice due to his fantastic fundraising effort surpassing them each time, what was originally a target of £1,500 turned into over £5,000!

“I heard about the great work your healthcare volunteers have been doing in Gaza to set up a field hospital and thought I must support” – thank you Hayder!

Round the Runway Runners

In July Wilmslow Running Club organised their annual Moberly ‘Round the Runway’ race with 400 supporters in support of UK-Med raising an incredible £2,739!

The race was organised by @wilmslowrunningclub Club and sponsored by Runnorthwest at Owen House Farm & Wedding Barn and the fantastic photos were taken by Jan-Christof Telford – Thank you to all involved in putting on this fantastic fundraiser!

Rob Downs, event organiser commented:

“Fast or slow everyone enjoyed the race and were happy to be running for a great cause on a sunny-ish July evening.”

Tea and Tunes

Lynette Orford organised a Tea and Tunes garden party with her community chapel, Blackshaw Head Chapel, in aid of UK-Med’s Gaza appeal. What looked like a brilliant day of tasty food and live music they raised a fantastic £2,143.15 whilst bringing the community together to support UK-Med’s work in Gaza.

“We would like UK-Med to put this money towards your amazing work with children in Gaza and hope it will help relive the awful situation for a few. It comes with our prayers and support for the amazing work you do.”

Printmaking for Gaza

Artist and Woodblock printmaker, Merlyn Chesterman, donated £990 to The Gaza Health Crisis Appeal following the sale of her 33 Atlantic roller woodcut prints to raise funds for Gaza.

Merlyn was inspired to raise funds for UK-Med following conversations with her good friend and UK-Med Register member, Paul Ransom. Thank you Merlyn!

To everyone who has gotten together with their community or taken on a daring challenge and raised vital funds for UK-Med we send out sincere thanks from the field. Without the generosity of our incredible supporters, we would not be able to reach those that need us most.
