Who thinks a summer day in the Yorkshire Dales sounds heavenly right now?

It’s been a long winter. For those in the health service, you’ve been working flat out. Thank you so much for everything you’re doing to care for us all. For others, you may be juggling home schooling and working from home.

For all of us, living in lockdowns, worrying about family, finances and health – it’s been hard going.

UK-Med’s vision of a world where everyone has the healthcare they need when crises or disasters hit has never felt more urgent. None of us are safe until we’re all safe. And in the coming months, more people than ever will need our help.

Could you take on a challenge with UK-Med?

As the days start to get a bit lighter, why not give your daily walk a new purpose and turn it into the start of your training for the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge? The event is open to members, supporters and friends or family too, so you could even get a team together with others in your bubble.

We can’t promise you sun (it is the UK!), but we can promise you:

a fantastic sense of achievement when you conquer Ingleborough, Whernside and Pen-y-Ghent peaks

a‘reet’ grand time in Yorkshire’s countryside a great team who will keep you smiling along the route

an expert local guide and a fully insured walk

a warm glow knowing the money you’ve raised will help save lives when emergencies hit.

For a registration fee of £40, you’ll get a place on the walk, guided by event provider Large Outdoors, and a UK-Med t-shirt. We also ask you to set up a JustGiving page to raise what you can.

COVID-19 note: Ensuring the health, wellbeing and safety of our participants, staff, volunteers and the public is at the centre of our planning. We’ll keep our plans under review and provide regular updates, so you’re able to make travel and accommodation arrangements as necessary. If the walk is postponed, cancelled or moved you’ll have the option to move your place or request a full refund.

We’ve really missed seeing our members and supporters this year. Although we’ve had some fantastic virtual events in 2020, and have more to come in 2021, we’re hoping we’ll be able to see some of you face-to-face too.

As the aid budget tightens but more and more people need our help, we urgently need to raise funds for our emergency responses – and you can help. Book your place now to join the team.
